Tributes for a "kind-hearted" man have been paid after a woman was charged with his murder. Rees Howarth, 28, died after being found in a critical condition after an alleged domestic disturbance in Hyde, Greater Manchester, on Sunday, April 23.
Emergency services tried to save the man's life after being called to the scene on Thorsby Avenue, but were unable to keep him alive. Katie Yeomans, 27, has been remanded in custody and is accused of his murder, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Yeomans will appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court today, while a 19-year-old woman, who was previously arrested on suspicion of murder, has been released with police confirming no further action will be taken.
Following his death, the man's family have paid emotional tributes, saying Rees had a "heart of gold", while police confirmed they are still continuing to appeal to members of the public with information regarding the incident.
In a statement issued through GMP, DCI Mark Davis of GMP’s Major Incident Team, said: "Our thoughts are of course with the victim’s family and we will continue to support them at this extremely difficult time. Again, I would like to reassure the public that this is an is an isolated incident with no wider risk to the public and we would please ask that members of the public not to speculate on this investigation.
"We can confirm that the 28-year-old victim is Rees Howarth and his family have expressed the following words to be shared in tribute to his memory. His family said that Rees was an 'active and outing man, who was funny and loving. He had a heart of gold and was caring and kind hearted. He was a larger than life character who will be sadly missed by all who loved him’ and have expressed that their family and loved ones have privacy while they grieve for their loss.
"I would like to continue to appeal to members of the public for any information from anyone who may know more about this incident to please come forward and speak to GMP.
