A Trinity College Dublin student who tragically died on campus last week has been remembered as "a ray of sunshine".
Mark Melnychuk, 24, was found dead at the university's library on Wednesday evening.
The medical student hails from Castlebar in Co Mayo and is originally from Andrushivka in Ukraine.
His parents are said to be heartbroken following his sad passing, while students in Trinity are "indescribably upset".
Tributes have been pouring in for the "talented" young man and "model student" who was described as "a very special person".
Some of his fellow students were holding a Pancake Day fundraiser in remembrance of Mark who was a "pancake fanatic".
The GoFundMe campaign, which has raised over €5,000 for Pieta House, says the young man "will be dearly missed by all".
Organisers write: "In his honour, as a pancake fanatic, we have decided to hold a Pancake Week. This can be a time for those who knew him to make some pancakes and reflect on any stories or memories they have of Mark.
"He was a funny ray of sunshine that touched everyone in some way, and it is our privilege to be able to commemorate him in this way. All donations for this week will be given to the charity Pieta House, fundraiser code xKupUm, in his name."
Other tributes have also been pouting in for Mark, with the Trinity Table Tennis Club writing: "Mark Melnychuk was one of our most committed and active members - news of his passing has been indescribably upsetting for all at DUTTC and beyond.
"We are here to support you in whatever way we can through this difficult time. May he rest in peace - Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis."
Castlebar Mitchels Hurling Club added: "We in the Castlebar Mitchels Hurling wish to send our deepest condolences to the family of Mark Melnychuk.
"Mark played with us from a young age and was a valued member of our Club.
"To his parents Olga & Gennadiy and his sister IIona we send our deepest sympathies. Rest in Peace Mark."
Other friends and neighbours from his local community have been extending their condolences to his parents and sister.
One person said: "Dear Olga and IIona, we are so terribly upset on hearing about dear sweet Mark. He was a very special person, kind, intelligent and sensitive, everything that you should be incredibly proud of.
"I hope your special moments and memories in Mayo, France and Dublin will give you some solace in times when you most need it."
A second said: "I played chess with Mark for years and he was always a great person to be around, always having fun. So sad to see the news. He will be greatly missed by everyone in Castlebar."
A third wrote: "Deepest sympathy to Mark’s family at this heartbreaking time. Mark was an extremely pleasant, bright and talented young man. May he rest in peace."
Someone else said: "Heartfelt sympathy to Mark's parents and sister on your tragic loss. So sorry you have to endure this pain and grief.
"Mark was a model student and talented young man who did you proud in his short life. We will join you for the funeral mass online on Wednesday. You are in our hearts, thoughts and prayers. May God give you strength until you meet Mark again. May his gentle soul rest in eternal peace."
While another person added: "Our deepest condolences for the loss of a beautiful son who studied with our own son at Trinity. Always helpful and caring toward others, may be rest in peace and may you take some comfort from the impact he had on those that knew him. Rest in Peace Mark."
Mark will be laid to rest following a funeral Mass at the Church of the Holy Rosary in Castlebar at 12pm on Wednesday.
