Warm tributes have been paid following the death of a Co Tyrone mum of eight who has been described as a ‘proud, devoted and nurturing mother’.
Linda Owens from the Rock passed away on Saturday following a short illness.
Almost £20,000 had been raised by the local community to support the Owens family in recent weeks after Linda fell ill.

“Linda has long established roots within our school, as a past pupil, and a current parent,” the school said in a statement.
“Linda was a proud, devoted, and nurturing mother who always put the wellbeing of her children to the forefront of her life. She was dedicated to supporting her children in every way she could.
“Linda had a warm and friendly personality and greeted everyone with a smile. She enjoyed a good long chat and her good humour and wit always shone through.
“Linda touched the hearts of the staff with her kindness, openness, and honesty. She had a spirit of generosity and supported the school community in all our endeavours.
“Most recently, Linda involved the school in helping to raise funds and awareness for World Diabetes Day, a cause very close and dear to her heart. She will be sorely missed as a cherished parent and friend of our school community.
“May the family be guided and supported, find solace and comfort in one another with the love they shared for Linda.”
Local GAA club Rock St Patrick’s also paid tribute to Linda, and pledged to support the family at this difficult time.
“Rock St. Patrick’s extends our deepest condolences to the Owens and Hoy families on the untimely passing of Linda Owens (née Hoy),” the club said.
“Linda hailed from a family whose involvement is deeply embedded in the history of our club. Linda would often be seen supporting her children at games and supporting events in the hub.
“It was only a few short weeks ago the club and community came together to show its support to Linda and her family in their time of need. They can all be sure that the club will support them at this most difficult time.”
