Heartfelt tributes have been paid to a 'much-loved' Scots dad and local boxing legend after he died suddenly.
Popular John Archibald, 68, from Loanhead in Midlothian passed away on February 7, leaving behind his devastated wife Carol as well as children Tina, Yvonne, Colin, Robert and Carol, reports Edinburgh Live.
People from across the local area in Midlothian have been been grieving the loss of the "local legend" and a boxing event has been set up in his honour, by daughter Tina.
She said: "My dad suddenly passed away on February 7, 2023.
"John was a much-loved husband of Carol, loved dad to me, Colin, Yvonne, Robert and Carol.
"He was a father-in-law, adored papa, great papa, uncle, brother and brother-in-law to the family, the captain of the ship and a dear friend to many."
John, also known as Jocky, boxed in his younger days, representing Scotland in the process, and was well respected in the community.
He trained at MacTaggart Scott Boxing Club, which is now run by Tina's husband Sandy Hutchison, who opened it back up in 2017.
Tina added: "My dad had been boxing since he was a kid and won loads of titles, going pro for a short time.
"Everyone knew my dad as a very good boxer who fought for Scotland and he started with his three brothers in childhood.
"Myself and my husband Sandy now run MacTaggart Scott Boxing Club where my dad started out and have done since 2017."
The boxing show will be held on March 11 at Dalkeith Miners Club.
