Tributes paid to 'beautiful, fun loving' woman found dead after disappearance

Tributes have been paid to a "beautiful, fun loving" woman who was tragically found dead after disappearing from her home. Thea Olivia Newton was last seen at her address in Warrington at roughly 1.30am on June 16.

A few hours later, the 29-year-old's car was found abandoned near Sunflower Drive, the Liverpool Echo reports. Family and friends shared concerns for her welfare and a huge search effort was launched by Cheshire police, who used a drone to assist their hunt.

Later that day, officers confirmed they had found a body which was believed to be Thea. There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding her death.

A JustGiving page has now been set up in Thea's memory to raise money for a mental health charity.

Gillian Newton, who created the fundraiser, said: "Thea Olivia Newton sadly passed away on the 16th June 2023 aged 29 years. The dearly loved and adored daughter of David and Kim, much loved partner of Mark, loving sister of Joseph and Zander and very much loved by all family and her many friends.

"Service and internment will take place at St Helen’s Church, Waddington on Thursday 6th July at 12 noon. To reflect Thea’s personality, it is requested that an item of colour be worn.

"Family flowers only please, donations in Thea’s memory are invited for M.I.N.D."

Leaving a comment on the JustGiving page, Robyn Isherwood wrote: "So many fond memories of years and years of fun at the rugby club. Watching you grow into a beautiful, fun loving woman. You were taken too soon. Rest in peace Thea you will be so missed."

Another person added: "Such a beautiful girl gone too soon. I hope you are at peace now Thea. You will be missed be so many."

While a third, Marisa said: "Thea, you were a beautiful girl who always had a smile for me. Thinking of all your family and friends at this difficult time. Sleep tight xx."

Thea's friend Alex, who worked with her at Absolute Fitness in Clitheroe, previously told the ECHO: "I have known Thea for a long time and I always saw her in the gym. She was amazing with my brother who has moderate special needs and would keep an eye on him.

"Thea was a wonderful person and I am thinking of her close friends and family. It was such a shock to all of us."
