Tributes paid to ‘beacon of light’ Disney actor following death at 71

  • Actor Robert Carradine, best known for his roles in Disney’s Lizzie McGuire, The Long Riders and Revenge of the Nerds, has died at the age of 71.
  • His family confirmed that he took his own life following a 20-year battle with Bipolar Disorder.
  • In a statement, his family described him as a “beacon of light” and acknowledged his “valiant struggle” with mental illness.
  • They expressed hope that his story would help to address the stigma surrounding mental health conditions.
  • His brother, Keith Carradine, spoke out about Robert's mental health difficulties, stating there is “no shame in it” and celebrating his “beautiful soul”.
