Tributes paid to 'amazing' Scots mum after 'unexpected' blood clot death

Tributes have been paid to an "amazing" Scots mum who died unexpectedly from a blood clot in her lungs

Lyndsey Kennedy was tragically found at her home in Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire, on Saturday March 11. Her son, Shaun, attempted CPR on her until the ambulance arrived but sadly, nothing could be done to save the 36-year-old.

Following the tragedy Shaun says his mum's passing has left a gaping hole in the family's heart. He's now taking care of his eight-year-old brother, who was extremely close to his mum.

Shaun told Glasgow Live: "I knew something was weird. I was trying to boot the door in but it wasn’t going in so we went back to my sister's house and got keys. That’s when we found mum and I tried CPR because I couldn’t just sit there and do nothing. It was unexpected."

Alongside dealing with the grief of losing the 'amazing' woman who'd been there for him all his life, Shaun now faces a hefty £4,500 bill to give her the send-off she deserves - and is appealing for help.

He added: "I’ve got my gran left now, but it was literally just my mum we all had. Mum helped out with my little girl quite a lot and loved being a granny. There were times where I was sitting with nothing in the house and I’d go up to my mum's and she’d just fill my bags up with food. She never had a lot of money herself but she’d always give me her stuff if she didn’t have money.

"She did everything and would’ve done anything in the world for her kids. There was only one Lyndsey and that’s the only way I can put it. She had nae filter about what she was saying and said things how they were.

"He just enjoyed spending time with my brother and her kids were her world. She was an amazing mum and there’s a hole in our hearts now that she’s gone."

A Just Giving page has been set up to raise funds for Lyndsey's funeral which is set to take place on Wednesday, April 12. Support the appeal here.
