Richard Agar has revealed that Rhyse Martin played in Leeds Rhinos defeat to Warrington Wolves despite the shock passing of his father days before.
Martin played the full contest as the Rhinos agonisingly went down 22-20 to Warrington Wolves.
He produced an impressive importance that was made more astonishing by the personal heartbreak he had suffered earlier in the week, with Agar paying tribute to the back-rower following the game.
"Rhyse lost his dad in the week very suddenly," he said.
"We kept a lid on it, the boys have, as they would, rallied around him tremendously well. His partner and his baby are back home after they got the news later in the week that his partner had passed away suddenly.
"I thought his performance today under a situation in your life where it's a swirl and very emotional; he's stranded in the UK, we're trying to get him home next week to be with his family, his response today and the way he played, his father would have been extremely proud of his performance, he was magnificent."
