A Queensland man accused of possessing nearly $1 million worth of heroin is fighting his charges.

Van Dung Vu, 37, pleaded not guilty via video link in the Supreme Court in Mackay on Tuesday to possession of 200 grams or more of dangerous drugs and possession of a mobile phone used in the commission of a crime.

Mr Vu was arrested two years ago after the Australian Border Force investigated a package that arrived in Australia from Vietnam.

The package allegedly contained 3.3 kilograms of heroin inside disposable gloves, which was addressed to a Mackay business.

The court heard Mr Vu's trial was set down for May 2, 2023.

Mr Vu's lawyer Danial Hua told the court he was not sure on the estimated time for the trial, with both parties yet to confer on their list of expected evidence and witnesses.

The matter will be next mentioned on Wednesday.

Mr Vu remains on bail.
