Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Trey Hendrickson is the team’s MVP, selected by the Cincinnati chapter of the Pro Football Writer’s Association.
Hendrickson was the obvious choice after appearing in all 17 games and posting a career-high 17.5 sacks.
“Trey Hendrickson proved his immense value to the Bengals defense as one of the most reliable and dominant pass rushers in the NFL,” said chapter vice president Mike Petraglia. “He recorded a career-high in sacks despite often being the target of double teams and scheming to account for his explosiveness off the edge.”
That 17.5-sack mark was second in the NFL behind only T.J. Watt in Pittsburgh.
While it wasn’t good enough to make the All-Pro team, Hendrickson stood out as one of the lone, consistent bright spots playing at an elite level in Cincinnati all season.
