The Jacksonville Jaguars racked up 422 yards of total offense against the Houston Texans in Week 5, but finished with just six points to show for it.
After the game, second-year quarterback Trevor Lawrence took the blame for several plays, including an interception in the end zone that erased the Jaguars’ best chance at a touchdown. But he also said he wasn’t the only one who had a rough day.
“It’s like we talked about in the locker room, like I told the guys, we can’t all have an off day on the same day,” Lawrence said. “You can have one guy, you can pick them up and go make a play for them, and that’s fine, but we all just have to be better collectively.”
Lawrence, 23, completed 25 of his 47 passes on the day for 286 yards. He threw two interceptions, although the second came on a Hail Mary in the final seconds of the fourth quarter. The first was the more egregious mistake, ending a promising drive to begin the second half.

“Honestly, I just forced it,” Lawrence said of the throw. “The field shrunk down there. We were in the boundary, didn’t have James [Robinson] in the flat. Then I thought I might have had a shot at the back baseline and just [Texans DB Derek] Stingley [Jr.] fell off the corner there. It was just a bad decision. That’s one you just throw away, maybe try to run it in, live to play another down.
“We were driving the ball successfully, we had a lot of big plays and we would just stall out. We have to fix that. We have to all look in the mirror and be accountable. Myself, I have to look at the things that I have to do better.”
Through five games so far in 2022, Lawrence has eight touchdown passes with four interceptions.
