Trevor Lawrence Unlikely to Play in Jaguars-Buccaneers Game, per Report

There’s a good chance the Jacksonville Jaguars will be without quarterback Trevor Lawrence for their matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.

Lawrence, who is in concussion protocol, did not participate in practice on Wednesday or Thursday and will likely watch from the sidelines at Raymond James Stadium, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Thursday.

“Generally, if a quarterback or really any player is not able to practice Wednesday and not able to practice Thursday, almost always that means a player will not be able to progress fast enough through concussion protocol to be able to play on Sunday,” Rapoport said on NFL Game Day Kickoff.

Veteran backup quarterback C.J. Beathard would start for Jacksonville if Lawrence can’t play.

At 8–6, the Jaguars are tied atop the AFC South with the Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans but currently hold the advantage in tiebreakers. Jacksonville will wrap up its regular season against the Buccaneers, Carolina Panthers and Tennessee Titans.
