Trent Alexander-Arnold denies Liverpool fans' Jude Bellingham theory

Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold has responded to rumours after he posted a photo with Jude Bellingham.

Both players are currently with the England squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. The duo will hope to be involved in the last-16 tie against Senegal on Sunday.

The Reds have been heavily linked with a move for Bellingham over the past 12 months or so, with speculation not likely to diminish. Borussia Dortmund have repeatedly stated their desire to keep hold of the talented midfielder, but are expected to be braced with interest from the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea.

On Thursday, Alexander-Arnold posted a photo on Instagram of himself and Bellingham enjoying the sights of Doha in Qatar. That post led to speculation that he may be trying to convince the Dortmund star to move to Anfield.

Responding to such rumours, Alexander-Arnold has explained how he was merely trying to enjoy a day off in Qatar with his friend, Bellingham.

Alexander-Arnold told BB 5Live: “I’m just going out with my mate, aren’t I?

“Everyone [is] saying ‘Agent Trent’, but no.”

He added: “We went out, a few of us yesterday, we were given the day off so had a decent day out.

When asked if any part of the post was a deliberate hint about Liverpool, Alexander-Arnold replied: “No, of course not.

“We just decided to get a pic, you know. World Cups are a once in a lifetime really, or at least a couple times in a lifetime. Not many people can say they have been to them.

“So it’s good to get some pictures on board and stuff like that. So that’s what we tried to do.”
