Trent Alexander-Arnold agrees to join Real Madrid as a free agent

Trent Alexander-Arnold will switch Merseyside for Madrid when he leaves Liverpool at the end of the season and joins the Spanish champions on a free.

One of Spain’s biggest tabloids Marca broke the news that Alexander-Arnold has decided to depart his boyhood club when his contract expires in the summer.

Liverpool are reportedly aware of the 26-year-old’s intentions but luckily for the Reds, they won’t have to look too far for a replacement with promising youngster Conor Bradley ready to step in.

The decision might come as a surprise to some considering Liverpool’s league position as well as the encouraging noise around new contracts for Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk.

Arne Slot’s men are six points clear at the top of the Premier League with a game in hand and a general 4/11 chance to win the title as per the best football betting sites.

The timing could not be better for Real Madrid, whose current right-back Dani Carvajal tore his ACL in October and the club will see Alexander-Arnold as the ideal succession plan.

Los Blancos star Jude Bellingham is a known comrade of Alexander-Arnold from international duty together and it sounds like the pair have had this move in the works for some time.

Madrid gearing up for busy summer as Alexander-Arnold and Davies await new homes

It could be another big offseason in the Spanish capital next year following the arrival of Kylian Mbappe in 2024, with another one of Europe’s top full-backs in a similar situation as Alexander-Arnold.

Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies is also rumoured to be another soon-to-be free agent who will join Real Madrid in 2025 and that team could be a serious force.
