Treasury Unveils Draft Designs For Trump Dollar Coin Ahead Of Nation's 250th Anniversary

The U.S. Treasury Department has revealed early designs of a commemorative $1 coin honoring President Donald Trump, set to debut in 2026 as part of America's 250th birthday celebrations.

The coin, which is being produced under the Circulating Collectible Coin Redesign Act of 2020, will mark the semiquincentennial of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Treasury officials on Friday described the images as "first drafts," emphasizing that the designs could still change before production begins.

On one side, the coin features a profile of Trump's face, rendered in a classical style similar to past presidential portraits. The reverse side depicts a far more dramatic image: Trump with his fist raised high in front of an American flag. Encircling the border are the traditional inscriptions: "United States of America" and "E Pluribus Unum,'' along with the words "Fight, fight, fight."

Treasurer Brandon Beach shared the images in a post on X, saying that the coin reflects "the enduring spirit of our country and democracy, even in the face of immense obstacles." A Treasury spokesperson noted that further details will be released once the ongoing government shutdown is resolved.

The raised-fist design strongly echoes Trump's defiant gesture in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13, 2024, moments after surviving an assassination attempt at a campaign rally. That image has since become a defining symbol of his presidency and political movement.

While the coin will be legal tender with a face value of $1, Treasury officials expect it will be sought after primarily by collectors.

This isn't the first time Trump has placed himself at the center of the upcoming "America 250" festivities. Earlier this year, the president presided over a controversial military parade in Washington, D.C., held on his 79th birthday.

The commemorative coin is part of a larger series planned for 2026, which will include designs representing different aspects of America's founding and history. But the Trump coin, the first to feature a sitting president in such a prominent, celebratory role, is already drawing widespread attention.
