Travis Kelce tried to give Taylor Swift his phone number on a friendship bracelet and failed

NFL players showing their love for Taylor Swift’s music isn’t new. A couple of examples include J.J. Watt saying he’s a big fan of the performer and Mac Jones going all out with a bejeweled concert weekend for the star pop singer.

But I’m not sure we’ve heard of bold gambits like the one Travis Kelce tried to pull when Swift visited Kansas City in early July.

On a recent episode of the New Heights podcast, Kelce and his brother Jason discussed his thoughts on Swift’s concert in the Kansas City area. The Kansas City Chiefs superstar tight end revealed he had his phone number written on a friendship bracelet Swift hands out. He would try to get the bracelet to the singer but ended up falling flat on his face.

The conversation, along with Kelce’s disappointment, picks up at 25:16 below.

Honestly? It wasn’t a bad plan! Kelce clearly thought it out and believed he’d be more noticeable as a famous football player. But then again, Swift is a famous Eagles fan — who might still be potentially bitter over a loss in Super Bowl 57 — and a mega-star in her own right.

I’m not surprised Kelce’s machinations didn’t work out. It was a long shot to begin with.
