A pensioner has been rushed to hospital after a crash near Troon Harbour.
An 89-year-old man has been taken to Hairmyres Hospital in East Kilbride following the smash between two cars this morning on Harbour Road.
Emergency crews including a specialist trauma unit and an air ambulance rushed to the scene in South Ayrshire around 11am.
It has since been confirmed that the man was taken to the Lanarkshire hospital by road.
A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 11am this morning to attend a road traffic collision near Troon Harbour.
"We dispatched the trauma team, an ambulance and the Helimed to the scene and one passenger was transported to Hairmyres Hospital.”
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of a crash involving two vehicles on Harbour Road in Troon around 11am on Tuesday, 8 November.
“An 89-year-old man, the driver of one of the vehicles, has been taken to University Hospital Hairmyres for treatment.”
