A transportation-centric public policy organization recently launched a significant ad campaign in anticipation of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg's upcoming speech at the Democratic National Convention. The Center for Transportation Policy (CTP) initiated this campaign, with an official from the organization expressing concerns about Buttigieg's potential focus on his achievements at the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) while overlooking various incidents that occurred during his tenure.
The CTP official, Jason Shedelbower, criticized Buttigieg, stating that despite his eloquence as a speaker, his actions, or lack thereof, during critical events raise doubts about his effectiveness. Shedelbower highlighted incidents such as the Norfolk-Southern derailment and hazmat crisis in East Palestine, Ohio, as well as Buttigieg's response to the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse on the Baltimore Beltway earlier this year.
The CTP released a video showcasing these incidents, which has garnered over 250,000 views. The organization emphasized its commitment to holding USDOT accountable for its actions and decisions under Buttigieg's leadership.
