Passengers have been warned that some train lines in south Wales will be closed over Easter weekend. Busy train lines in south Wales will be disrupted over the weekend as work is done to prepare for the South Wales Metro. The Cardiff Central to Radyr city line will be closed all day on April 8 and there is no rail replacement bus service. However, tickets will be accepted on Cardiff Bus, according to Transport for Wales.
The Cardiff Central to Pontypridd line will also be closed for both Saturday and Sunday as work is done on the line. Tickets will be accepted on Cardiff Bus and Stagecoach T4/T4C services.

The disruption is due to ongoing work to build the South Wales Metro and the closures are part of the “transformation” work that is taking place. Transport for Wales said on its website: “While we build this better transport network over the next few years, it may mean temporary periods of change to your journey plans.
“Where possible we are scheduling the transformation work to take place during less busy times to minimise disruption and offering connections between rail services and bus services.”

- Cardiff Central to Radyr (City Line) – closed all day on Saturday April 8
- Cardiff to Pontypridd – closed on Saturday April 8 and Sunday April 9
- Pontypridd to Treherbert – closed from Monday April 10 to Thursday April 13
