The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has moved to ban transgender women from female events, beginning with the next summer Olympic games, scheduled to take place in Los Angeles in the United States in July 2028.
The decision comes after IOC executives approved on Thursday a new policy on the “Protection of the Female (Women’s) Category in Olympic Sport” following calls for reforms after the Paris summer games in 2024 and the recent Milano-Cortina winter games just weeks ago.
