CHANDIGARH: A representation on behalf of a transgender student studying at Panjab University (PU) has been given to the vice chancellor, Panjab University, when she was not given hostel accommodation by the authorities. The transgender student is sitting on protest till her demand is met.
Yashika, a transgender who is pursuing her MA in Human Rights, at the Centre of Human Rights and Duties, said she had made several appeals for a hostel room in the university. The proposed committee by dean student welfare (DSW) has been unable to provide any answer or a solution for the same even after making various representations through the chairperson of the department concerned, she alleged.
