Midfielder Houssem Aouar’s links to Nottingham Forest in the summer could be affecting his future, it has been suggested.
The Reds were said to have agreed terms with the Frenchman during the transfer window. But a move failed to materialise as an agreement could not be reached with Lyon.
Although the 24-year-old is still with the French side, he has just a year left on his contract. And it seems uncertain what will happen next.

Taylor's message
Striker Lyle Taylor appears to have suggested he will keep working hard on the training pitch, despite finding himself out of favour at Nottingham Forest.
The 32-year-old has not featured for the Reds this season. And he was not included in the 25-man Premier League squad which was submitted after the summer transfer window closed.
He has taken to Instagram, sharing a video of a goal being scored in training. Alongside it, he posted the caption: “Work. Quietly.”
Taylor spent the second half of last season on loan at Birmingham City, having dropped down the pecking order at the City Ground. He returned to Forest in the summer and was an unused substitute against Newcastle United and West Ham United, but has not been in a match day squad since - including for the Carabao Cup tie against Grimsby Town.
Leicester latest
Leicester City have been handed a boost over injury concerns for defensive midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, ahead of the clash against Nottingham Forest.
The Reds travel to the King Power Stadium on Monday night in what could be a crucial match at the bottom of the Premier League table. Both teams are currently in the Premier League relegation zone, with Forest one place and three points above Leicester in 19th place.
Ahead of the match, Brendan Rodgers was handed a big injury concern when Ndidi returned to the club from international duty after taking part in just one training session. The Nigerian tweaked his hamstring before joining up with his national side, but after undergoing light training, the decision was taken for him to return to Leicester.
Upon his return, Ndidi underwent scans, and it has come back as positive news for the Foxes. According to BBC Sports reporter in Africa Oluwashima Okeleji (via LeicestershireLive ), the scans have shown that the midfielder has suffered a grade one hamstring tear.
Lamouchi's dream
Former Nottingham Forest boss Sabri Lamouchi has hinted that a job in Italy would be his next role of choice.
The Frenchman has been out of work since leaving Qatari side Al Duhail last August. He remains keen on a return to management, but says he is waiting for “the right project”.
He has been linked with a number of roles during the past year, including Belgian outfit Standard Liege, the Mauritania national team and Turkish side Besiktas. He was also said to be in the running to take over at Sunderland at one point.
But the 50-year-old has suggested he is prepared to bide his time before picking up the reins at a club again. And he has an eye on one move, in particular.
