Tranquil riverside Nottinghamshire holiday let The Pump House with 75 ft chimneys

The boom in staycations led one Nottinghamshire couple to pick up the letting gauntlet when considering retirement. Transforming part of their home into a unique separate living space with its cast iron printing press, original artwork and 75 ft chimneys, the property owners have now walked away with a top award for the accommodation.

Nicholas Pryke and Claire Elliott have split their home in two to create a self-contained holiday let. The idea came about during Covid. The pandemic prompted Nicholas, 60, to slow down and start to think about retirement. Tapping into the staycation boom that had emerged following the pandemic, Nicholas and fellow home owner Claire, 49, decided to transform part of their home into a holiday let - The Pump House - a move that they said would help to support them financially.

The pair were originally drawn to the property because of its unique architecture and tranquil riverside location, and its design made the transformation easy. Splitting the property in half created a two-bedroom, self-contained holiday let that was perfectly placed to rent out.
