A tram collision occurred at Universal Studios Hollywood in California on Saturday night, resulting in more than a dozen people sustaining minor injuries, as reported by authorities.
The incident was attributed to a mechanical failure by the tram driver, causing one of the cars to collide with a rail around 9 p.m. PT. This collision led to several passengers falling out of the tram, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office.
Fifteen individuals were subsequently transported to local hospitals for treatment of their injuries, as confirmed by the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
A spokesperson from Universal Studios Hollywood acknowledged the incident, stating, “There was a tram incident at the theme park tonight that resulted in multiple minor injuries, confirmed by the LA County Fire Dept. We are working to support our guests and understand the circumstances that led to the accident.”
Aerial footage captured the scene showing paramedics attending to multiple individuals, with at least one person being carried away on a stretcher for further medical attention.
While the theme park acknowledged the incident, no specific details were provided regarding the exact cause of the tram malfunction.
Universal Studios Hollywood utilizes trams for its popular studio tour, which offers visitors the opportunity to explore various filming locations on the backlot, as well as engaging in 3-D experiences.
