A number of Merseyrail trains have been cancelled following a points failure.
The travel provider released an update on Twitter on Thursday, March 9, warning passengers about cancelled and delayed trains on all Wirral Lines. Due to a points failure at Hamilton Square in Birkenhead trains on the West Kirby, New Brighton, Ellesmere Port and Chester Lines could be delayed or cancelled.
At least three trains have already been cancelled including the 6.45pm, 7.15pm, 7.30pm. Merseyrail say it expect disruption until 9pm.

An update from Merseyrail on Twitter said: "Due to a points failure at Hamilton Square, services on the Wirral line are disrupted. West Kirby & New Brighton line may be cancelled or will start & terminate at Birkenhead North.
"Chester & Ellesmere Port may be cancelled or will start & terminate at Birkenhead Central."
A rail replacement bus service is now in place.
