A day-long training programme on millet cultivation will be held at Krishi Bhavan Hall at Muttar in Kutanad on Thursday. It will be inaugurated by Muttar grama panchayat president Suramya K. at 10.30 a.m.
The programme is jointly organised by the Initiative for Ecosystem-based Livelihood Enhancement (IELE), Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment (ATREE), and Muttar Krishi Bhavan in association with the Kerala Millets Mission Alappuzha District Committee. The training session ‘Enhancing the resilience of livelihoods with millets: An initiative for farmers of Kuttanad’ will be led by Ali Chullu, president, Kerala Millets Mission Alappuzha District Committee.
In addition to the training programme, experimental millet cultivation under the guidance of IELE and ATREE will be carried out on a small farm during the upcoming ‘puncha’ (first) crop season.
