A trainee train driver has been praised for putting his skills into action after rescuing a sweet puppy that had begun running alongside the train.
In what was to be his very first rescue mission on the job, Stefan Hug, engaged the brakes and stopped the train after spotting the little black puppy on the tracks near South Bermondsey, London.
Stefan, from east London, only began his training back in January but says the skills he'd learned in the classroom 'kicked in' sharpish after he noticed the pup in peril.
