Train ticket prices to be slashed by half as Government address cost of living crisis

The cost of travelling by train is set to be reduced by as much as half, as the Government looks to address the ongoing cost of living crisis with cheaper travel options throughout April and May.

In what is being dubbed 'The Great British Rail Sale', Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said that more than one million train tickets would be reduced in the spring.

The Department for Transport (DfT) is hoping that the move will allow hard-pressured households - who are facing rising bills and soaring inflation - to enjoy trips across the UK and boost domestic tourism.
