Train strikes announced for weekend of Leeds United's trip to Southampton

Aslef union have announced that train drivers at nine rail companies will go on strike on Saturday 13 August. This will be the second strike in just three weeks with another one also planned for this weekend.

But the aforementioned strike on August 13 could have major implications on football fans up and down the country, none more so than Leeds United. The Whites face the long trip to Southampton in their first away game of the season, with trains the primary mode of transport for many match-going supporters.

Leeds fans – who will almost certainly take an allocation of around 3000 down to St. Mary’s, will now be tasked with finding an alternative mode of transport. With only two-and-a-half weeks until the match, it will now be a scramble for supporters to find a new way of ensuring they can travel to the South Coast.
