Following a 4.8 magnitude earthquake that shook the Northeast this morning, train services in the region have been impacted. Amtrak initiated track inspections shortly after 11 a.m. ET and implemented speed restrictions across the area until the inspections were completed.
New Jersey Transit has announced delays of up to 20 minutes in both directions as a result of bridge inspections post-earthquake. Newark Light Rail service has been suspended system-wide, while the River Line Light Rail service is halted between the Waterfront Entertainment Center and Trenton for track inspections.
The earthquake, which struck earlier today, has prompted transportation authorities to prioritize safety measures and conduct thorough assessments of railway infrastructure. Passengers are advised to check for updates and allow for additional travel time as services may continue to be affected in the aftermath of the seismic event.
