Rail passengers have faced cancellations and long delays this evening due to a signalling fault.
The points failure at Cheadle Hulme is causing disruption to journeys travelling between and through Stockport and Macclesfield/Crewe. This is affecting a number of operators travelling in and out of Manchester Piccadilly, including Avanti West Coast, CrossCrountry, Northern, and Transport for Wales.
Services travelling through here may be cancelled, delayed by 30 minutes or more, or diverted via Styal. Disruption is expected to continue until 9pm, having started around 6.30pm.
