The train, known as the Arctic Circle Express, was en route to the town of Bodoe when the derailment took place.

Train operator SJ confirmed that 90 tickets had been sold for the journey, but the exact number of passengers on board was not immediately available. However, early indications suggest that there were no serious injuries among the passengers.

Photos from Norwegian media showed the locomotive and at least two passenger cars affected by the derailment. The train consisted of five cars and one locomotive at the time of the incident.

The Norwegian news agency NTB, citing the Joint Rescue Coordination Center for northern Norway, reported that there were between 50 and 70 individuals on board the train. First responders were swiftly dispatched to the scene to assess the situation and provide assistance to those involved.

Authorities stated that the train was traveling from Trondheim to Bodoe when the derailment occurred. The cause of the incident is currently under investigation as officials work to determine what led to the train going off the tracks.
