Trai Hume's stellar season for Sunderland has been rewarded with a new contract.
The Northern Ireland defender has agreed a new deal until the summer of 2027 with an option for a further year.
Hume made 34 appearances for the Black Cats last season, with his performances earning him a place on the whoscored.com Championship Team of the Season, as well as twice being named in the Championship Team of the Week.

Sunderland said: "After an outstanding season in the Sky Bet Championship, the 21-year-old Northern Ireland international has signed a new deal until summer 2027 with an option for a further year.
"The defender, who is comfortable playing at right-back or centre-back, made the switch to Wearside in January 2022 from NIFL Premiership side Linfield.
"He then helped the Lads secure promotion from League One before claiming his first senior international cap later in the summer.
"Under Tony Mowbray, Hume has been a mainstay in the side during the second half of the campaign as the Club secured a sixth-placed finish.
"He claimed back-to-back assists over the festive period before scoring his first SAFC goal in a 2-1 win over Birmingham City in April.
"Amassing 34 appearances in total last season, Hume’s performances earned him a spot in the whoscored.com Championship Team of the Season, as well as twice being named in the Championship Team of the Week."
Hume said he was "over the moon" to sign a new deal with the club.
He added: “I am over the moon to sign a new deal. After the season we all had as a team, I felt like being offered a new deal is a good sign from the staff that they want to keep me here.
"I'm still young and I'm certainly looking to play games. Hopefully we can have another good season but there is lots of work over the summer.”
Sporting Director Kristjaan Speakman added: “Trai was very patient in his first twelve months and worked tirelessly to refine his game. Since the new year he’s gone from strength to strength, grown in confidence and his performances merit an improved and extended contract.
"He’s a great example of what’s possible at Sunderland AFC for young players and we are all really pleased for him and naturally pleased for ourselves that he’s committing to the club.”
