18-day old Hunter White tragically died of 'positional asphyxia' on July 10, 2020. Baby Hunter was in the care of his father, Adam White, when he suffered from a lack of oxygen and blood flow to the brain and sadly passed away.
Adam White, along with Hunter's mother Terri Walters, have since both pleaded guilty to cruelty to a child. The case has been adjourned until tomorrow (Thursday, May 26) where the pair are expected to be sentenced.
Prior to the case adjournment on Friday, May 20, Nottingham Crown Court heard that both parents have longstanding drug problems and had been taking drugs on the night that baby Hunter died. Walters, 32, of Kingsway Gardens, Hucknall, was in the house at the time and had gone to bed, leaving Hunter with his dad when "not safe to do so", Judge Gregory Dickinson QC said.
After leaving her son in the care of his father, Adam White, 45, of Foxhill Road East, Carlton, "fell asleep under the influence of something" while Hunter was facedown and could not breathe or move as he died. Hunter was pronounced dead by paramedics who were called to Kingsway Gardens, Hucknall, on July 10, 2020.
The case has been adjourned until Thursday, May 26, where the former couple are expected to know their fate.
