Tragedy struck a mobile home park in Clearwater, Florida, last night when a small plane crashed into one of the homes, causing a series of fires that engulfed several other trailers. The incident, which occurred around 7 p.m., claimed the lives of three individuals, including the pilot.
According to preliminary reports released by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the pilot had radioed in about engine failure just moments before the aircraft disappeared from radar, three miles away from the runway. The distress signal, with the pilot desperately calling out 'Mayday, Mayday,' alerted air traffic control to an impending emergency.
