An unfortunate incident occurred early Sunday morning at Delaware State University in Dover, Delaware, where an 18-year-old woman was shot and killed, leading to the closure of the campus by authorities.
The incident took place near Warren-Franklin Hall, a main campus residence hall that accommodates over 300 freshman co-ed students. The victim, who was from Wilmington, Delaware, sustained a gunshot wound to her upper body and was rushed to Bayhealth Hospital, Kent Campus for medical attention. Tragically, she succumbed to her injuries and passed away at the hospital.
The victim's identity has not been disclosed pending notification of her family. It was revealed that she was not a registered student at the university, and no other injuries were reported in connection with the incident.
