Tragedy as bus driver dies after crashing off road into garden on school run

A man driving a school bus carrying children, that crashed off a road and into a garden yesterday, in Leeds has tragically died.

Emergency services attended an incident on Bradford Road in Otley around 4.30pm yesterday, July 12, as a 52-year-old man suffered serious injuries after the school bus he was driving full of children crashed into a residential garden.

No children were seriously injured in the crash.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "At 4.23pm yesterday (Tuesday), police received a report of a bus colliding with a lamp post in Milner Bank, Otley.

"Emergency services attended the scene as the male driver required urgent medical attention.

"The man, 52, was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene a short time later.

"There are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances around his death and his family have been informed.

"No other injuries were reported.

"Northern Powergrid were also notified as an electricity substation was damaged in the collision."
