A driver has been arrested on suspicion of assault after police received concerning reports the occupant of a car was involved in a kidnapping.
GMP Traffic Police then managed to stop the vehicle on the motorway near Ashton in Manchester.
Cheshire Police had initially received reports that the owner of the white vehicle had been involved in a kidnapping.
Passing information on to traffic cops within Greater Manchester Police, officers stopped the vehicle and made enquiries.
Two police vehicles managed to bring the car to a stop in the left lane of the M60.
The driver was then arrested by Cheshire police on suspicion of assault.
Further details about the incident are not yet known, but Cheshire Police have been contacted for more information.
In a tweet this afternoon, Greater Manchester Police's traffic unit said: "Cheshire police received a report the occupant of this white vehicle was involved in a kidnapping.
"GMP #RPU #TPAC patrols successfully stopped the vehicle on the #M60 nr. #Ashton.
"Following enquiries, the driver has been #arrested by Cheshire officers on suspicion of assault."
