Two-time Olympic sprint cyclist Nathan Hart has announced his retirement, ending a decade in the Australian track cycling program.
The 30-year-old's last major event was the Tokyo Olympics and he has retired from the national track program, decided against trying for the Paris Games team.
Hart became a maintstay in the team sprint, finishing fourth in the event at the Rio and Tokyo Olympics.
He was also a member of the combination that won bronze in the team sprint at the 2020 world championships.
Hart also won team sprint bronze at the 2014 and '18 Commonwealth Games.
"In the time since Tokyo the depth of men's sprint in Australia has just exploded into being an awesome place for the team," Hart said.
"They've had some massive success, winning world champs and the Commonwealth Games in 2022 and a silver at worlds this year.
"It's been great to see the results the team has had in the last couple of years. To be a part of the journey of men's team sprint returning to excellent results has been massively rewarding."
