For many automakers, the transition to building electric vehicles includes other initiatives to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Some factories already use renewable energy sources for power, building cars with parts made from recycled plastics and other waste products. Two Toyota factories have taken a different approach to being green, using heat and CO2 waste to grow strawberries and cherry tomatoes.
