Toy Story 5 stars Tom Hanks and Tim Allen brought out the match ball at the Soccer Aid charity football match, which saw England beat the Rest Of The World 3-2.

Coverage of the game at the London Stadium on ITV began with a Toy Story-themed intro clip, which saw Woody, Buzz Lightyear and Jessie from the film franchise retrieve the ball after it got lost, before Hanks, 69, and Allen, 72, brought it on to the pitch for kick-off.

After arriving on the pitch on Sunday, Hanks told the crowd: “What a lovely, intimate way to spend a Sunday afternoon – all of my best friends are here.”

Allen then revealed the match had at the time raised more than £4.6 million for Unicef, before shouting his character Buzz’s catchphrase: “To infinity and beyond.”

Before kick-off, former I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! contestant GK Barry, who also played in the match wearing number 10, had told the pair – whose latest edition of the Toy Story franchise will launch in UK cinemas on June 19 – to stop discussing penalties while she was presenting.

She told them: “Excuse me, we’re live on air.”

To which Allen replied: “I’m just bitching about penalty shots.”

Rivals actor Danny Dyer and comedian Alex Brooker, who both played in the game, then gatecrashed the interview, with Dyer stroking the pair’s heads.

F1 actor Damson Idris scored for England just after the half-hour mark, striking past former Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin Van Der Sar to make it 1-0 to England, while Jermain Defoe chipped IT Crowd star Chris O’Dowd twice in the second half, bringing the score to 3-0.

Former Chelsea and Ghana midfielder Michael Essien scored a long-range shot to pull one back for the Rest Of The World, despite The Celebrity Traitors star Joe Marler getting his hand to it, while former Everton player Tim Cahill headed in a second to make the final score 3-2 to England.

Other celebrities to impress included Adolescence star Owen Cooper, 16, who played at right-back for England, making a couple of early challenges on Kaos actor Nabhaan Rizwan, who came close to scoring in the eighth minute when his shot was saved by former England goalkeeper Joe Hart.

Cooper made a tackle on former Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov, but then swung and missed the ball completely, striking Berbatov’s leg – the referee did not give a penalty.

Former Love Island contestant Chloe Burrows played an inch-perfect through ball for former England and Arsenal star Walcott in the second half, but his shot narrowly missed the goal.

One humorous moment saw podcaster Barry, whose real name is Grace Keeling, let a pass from singer Tom Grennan to her run out of play, as she was too busy riling up the crowd and did not see it coming.

Celebrity goalkeepers were introduced at half-time, with O’Dowd making a flying save from Walcott just after half-time, and former England rugby player Marler later making a good save low down to deny former Serbian international midfielder Nemanja Matic towards the end.

In the second half, comedian Maisie Adam had a shot cleared off the line by YouTuber AngryGinge for the Rest Of The World, who she played for to balance out the squads, after Marler spilt a cross.

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! 2025 winner AngryGinge, whose real name is Morgan Burtwistle, won player of the match for his performance in the centre of the England defence, where he played the full 90 minutes.

Other celebrities playing in the match included TV presenter Paddy McGuinness, Brit Awards host Jack Whitehall, Thor star Tom Hiddleston, Irish singer Dermot Kennedy, and former jockey Frankie Dettori.

At half-time, singer Robbie Williams performed his hit song Feel, with the two sqauds joining him as it reached its conclusion.

It was revealed the game had raised just under £16.5 million for Unicef at the end of the night.
