Thousands of people are expected to head to a newly transformed town centre as a popular festival returns.
Prescot has seen much development in recent years, from new businesses opening to the success of the Shakespeare North Playhouse. Just recently, Knowsley Council agreed to buy an area of wasteland as part of its town centre masterplan.
But as development continues, the town centre will once again be transformed into a chaotic festival of fun this summer. August will see the return of the Serious Nonsense Festival between 11 - 13 after its great success last year.

The festival, which attracted more than 15,000 people in its first year in 2022, celebrates the borough's connections to Edward Lear, who lived at Knowsley Hall where he wrote his world-famous poem, The Owl and the Pussycat.
And this year's event is set to be bigger and better thanks to funding from Knowsley Council, Arts Council England, Prescot High Street Heritage Action Zone and UKSPF.
From musical performances to venturing inside the belly of a sperm whale, there is something for everyone to enjoy, including special appearances across the weekend from well-renowned poets and performers with headline attractions soon to be announced.
Knowsley Council confirmed the free event will be supported by the Prescot Cultural Consortium, Shakespeare North Playhouse, Imaginarium Theatre and Milap. This year’s event will be programmed and produced by Walk the Plank – one of the UK’s leading outdoor arts specialists.
Cllr Shelley Powell, Knowsley Council Cabinet Member for Communities & Neighbourhoods said: "I am absolutely delighted that the Serious Nonsense Festival is coming back to Prescot. It was undoubtedly one of my personal highlights from last year, which is high praise indeed considering how many wonderful events we hosted in our Borough of Culture year.
"The weekend is set to be a fantastic spectacle and so much fun for residents of all ages. Make sure you pop along to experience it for yourself, get the dates in your diary now."
