At the end of a season which has offered hundreds of millions of dollars in prize money to PGA Tour golfers already, there was one final stacked tournament purse to be handed out at East Lake Golf Club this week.
A remarkable 14 tournaments - three of which were Majors - have put up at least $20 million in events throughout 2026, with The Players Championship standing out in front as the most lucrative thanks to its $25 million purse.
The event which takes place in March remained top dog in the financial park until this week, where a staggering $40 million was on the table at the season-ending Tour Championship.
Until 2025, there was a $25 million top prize for winning the FedExCup out of a combined pot of $100 million, but a modified arrangement prior to last year saw the money spread out through the entire FedExCup Playoffs.
Due to that switch, 2026 FedExCup winner Scottie Scheffler has just banked a mind-blowing $10 million check which counts as Official Money in the PGA Tour's records.
As a result, he is now the highest-earning PGA Tour member of all time, having blown past Tiger Woods' $121 million mark thanks to his second FedExCup title. Scheffler has earned more than $130 million in Official Money on the PGA Tour since arriving in 2020.
Having led by one through 54 holes, Viktor Hovland will undoubtedly feel disappointed he wasn't able to claim a second FedExCup of his own, but a lack of fluidity throughout his game ensured he would have to be content with a $5 million runner-up check.
Ryan Gerard, who entered the week as a clear outsider in the betting market, finished the season third to secure a life-changing $3.7 million.
In a log-jammed tie for fourth included Rory McIlroy, Chris Gotterup and Alex Fitzpatrick - each securing $1.7 million - while 2025 FedExCup winner Tommy Fleetwood ended the year in a share of 11th and picked up $660,000 in prize money.
In the most lucrative week of the year for PGA Tour members, even JJ Spaun - who withdrew on Thursday through injury - claimed $355,000 for finishing the FedExCup in 30th place.
