Tour beautiful Jordan with Siam Society

Siam Society is holding a study trip to the Kingdom of Jordan, a land of history in the Middle East, from Feb 18-26.

Jordan has some of the oldest human settlments that can be traced in castles and ruins that dot the landscape, that tell the story of how Jordan has been a meeting point in the Middle East and beyond for centuries.

Historically, Jordan, for the most part, has been a collection of city-states, but the strategic geographic location ensured that all the great early civilisations passed through this land.

The Egyptians, Assyrians, Babylonians, Greeks, Romans, Arabs, Turks and Crusaders all helped to shape the history of the region. They traded, built cities and fought their wars here, leaving behind rich cultural influences.

Led by Kanitha Kasina-Ubol, managing director of Siam Society, the nine-day trip is an opportunity to experience the rose-red city of Petra, along with Jerash, an outstanding example of a rich Roman provincial town and one of the best preserved of the cities of the Decapolis.

Participants will also pay a visit to Mount Nebo, Madaba city, Dana Natural Reserve and indulge in the natural wonders of Wadi Rum and the Dead Sea.

The fee is 117,500 baht (114,000 baht for members). Email supanut@thesiamsociety.org or call 02-661-6470--3 ext 205 and 506.
