Paul Pogba wanted a reunion with Antonio Conte at Tottenham after leaving Manchester United, an Italian pundit has claimed.
Massimo Brambati, who spent the bulk of his career in Serie A before moving into punditry, has revealed the French midfielder’s desire to relocate to north London before ending up back at Juventus.
Conte and Pogba spent two years together in Turin, winning the Scudetto twice before the coach left to manage the Italian national team.
However, Conte and managing director Fabio Paratici decided against signing the World Cup winner on a free transfer last summer.
“I know that his first choice was Antonio Conte's Tottenham but the coach said no to Paratici,” Brambati told TMW.
Pogba’s return to Juve has not gone to plan at all with only two appearances off the bench after struggling with a serious knee injury.
That comeback was quickly halted by another problem as the 30-year-old suffered a muscle tear, prompting reports in Italy that he could have his contract cancelled.
