Tottenham vs Crystal Palace LIVE: Premier League result, latest updates and fan reaction

Live: Tottenham vs Crystal Palace - (John Walton/PA Wire)

Tottenham vs Crystal Palace LIVE

The spectre of Premier League relegation loomed ever larger for Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday after a 3-1 home defeat by Crystal Palace left them teetering just above the drop zone. When striker Dominic Solanke gave 16th-placed Tottenham the lead against the run of play in the 34th minute, a first league win in 2026 looked on the cards for the hosts.

But they collapsed in shambolic fashion before the interval with Palace replying three times to stun the hosts after Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven was sent off. Van de Ven hauled back Ismaila Sarr in the area to receive a red card before Sarr coolly slotted home the resulting penalty, sending Guglielmo Vicario the wrong way. Adam Wharton then played in Jorgen Strand Larsen to slot a low shot past Vicario in the first minute of stoppage time and provided another classy assist for Sarr to make it 3-1.

Sarr also had a goal ruled out for a marginal offside shortly before Solanke's opener. Ten-man Tottenham battled after the break in a subdued atmosphere and emptying stadium but could not prevent a fifth successive league defeat which extended their winless league run to 11, their worst for 50 years. They have 29 points from 29 games, one more than Nottingham Forest and West Ham United. Palace's victory lifted them into 13th place with 38 points. Tottenham have been ever-present in the Premier League and were last relegated from the top flight in 1977, but interim manager Igor Tudor must turn things around quickly if they are to stay above the trap door.

What a dismal evening for Spurs. They have had a full 45 to come to terms with the fact that they may well now be favourites for relegation.

FT: Tottenham 1-3 Crystal Palace

22:00 , Oli Gent

There's the full-time whistle. Not good for Spurs. It leaves them one point above the drop zone.

90 mins: Five added minutes.

Sam Tabuteau reports

21:54 , Oli Gent

89 mins: It is an exhibition game at this point, there are hardly any home supporters left.

Tottenham 1-3 Crystal Palace

21:53 , Oli Gent

88 mins: Close! Good defending by Pape Matar Sarr as Palace look for a fourth. Ismaila Sarr looks for Mitchell at the back post, but the Spurs midfielder recovers well.

Tottenham 1-3 Crystal Palace

21:43 , Oli Gent

79 mins: Will Hughes coming on for Palace.

Sam Tabuteau reports

21:42 , Oli Gent

77 mins: Porro has lost his head here as he takes his place on the bench. The right-back angrily smashes a chair before eventually sitting down. His frustrations are shared by many here I'm sure.

Tottenham 1-3 Crystal Palace

21:39 , Oli Gent

76 mins: Simons and Richarlison are on for Spurs, replacing Solanke and Porro.

Tottenham 1-3 Crystal Palace

21:38 , Oli Gent

Sam Tabuteau reports

21:37 , Oli Gent

73 mins: It is a pantomime atmosphere here as the oles ring out. Palace fans are having fun, while the few Spurs supporters that remain look on in despair. The game is as good as done.

Tottenham 1-3 Crystal Palace

21:36 , Oli Gent

71 mins: Close! Strand Larsen inches away from his second and Palace’s fourth as he spins Danso and looks for the left-footed curler, but it’s wide of the far corner.

Tottenham 1-3 Crystal Palace

57 mins: Great feet from Gray as he dances through the Palace challenges and into the box, and he goes down claiming a push... but nothing doing, says the referee.

Tottenham 1-3 Crystal Palace

21:21 , Oli Gent

56 mins: A wayward strike from Palhinha as Spurs look to cut the deficit. It comes for Tel, won’t sit for him, and Palhinha curls well wide.

Sam Tabuteau reports

21:18 , Oli Gent

53 mins: The atmosphere inside here is non-existent, just a stunned silence and a smattering of applause when Spurs press forward in vain. Spurs' supporters, simply put, just seem to be coming to terms with everything right now.

Tottenham 1-3 Crystal Palace

21:15 , Oli Gent

49 mins: A faster start from the 10 men of Spurs, but the atmosphere is almost on the floor. Palace have come out sloppily. Can Spurs make the most of that complacency?

If it was bleak before god knows how to describe Spurs' situation now. Fans are leaving, they have had enough and Spurs are staring into the abyss. Some supporters by the press box have made their feelings clear towards what looks to be the club's analysts. This could not have gone much worse.

HT: Tottenham 1-3 Crystal Palace

20:56 , Oli Gent

There’s half time. What a mad first 45 minutes.

Spurs go in two behind and a man down. What does Tudor say to his players?

What will the second period have in store?

Goal! Tottenham 1-3 Crystal Palace

20:53 , Oli Gent

45+7 mins: It’s three, and the Spurs fans are leaving in their droves. Sarr has his second, and Wharton picks him out beautifully, as the forward pokes home ahead of Vicario.

Sam Tabuteau reports

20:50 , Oli Gent

45+5 mins: Tottenham are in all heaps of trouble now. Sarr is disposesed and Palace pounce, with Wharton finding Strand Larsen who fires low past Vicario. The game has flipped on its head in a maddening 20 minute spell, and Spurs have a mountain to climb.

Goal! Tottenham 1-2 Crystal Palace

20:48 , Oli Gent

45+2 mins: Palace are in front, and it’s Strand Larsen! A great pass from Wharton, who unlocks the hosts as Spurs lose the ball in their own half. Wharton reads Strand Larsen’s run, and the striker finishes through Vicario.

Tottenham 1-1 Crystal Palace

20:43 , Oli Gent

Sam Tabuteau reports

20:42 , Oli Gent

42 mins: Sarr scores confidently and we are level with Palace a man up. It is hard to know quite what will be going through Tudor's head right now.

Goal! Tottenham 1-1 Crystal Palace

20:40 , Oli Gent

40 mins: It’s Sarr, and this time he gets his goal!

Sam Tabuteau reports

20:40 , Oli Gent

39 mins: Just like that the noise has sucked out of the stadium as Van de Ven is given his marching orders for a pull on Sarr. Unbelievable, no sooner had Spurs found themselves ahead and now they are down to 10-men with Palace set to take a penalty.

Tottenham 1-0 Crystal Palace

20:39 , Oli Gent

38 mins: Penalty! Spurs immediately concede a spot-kick, and Van de Ven is sent off for pulling Sarr back. It’s the denial of clear goalscoring opportunity, and the Dutchman is off!

Sam Tabuteau reports

20:37 , Oli Gent

37 mins: Talk of a reaction. Just moments after Sarr's goal is disallowed and Tottenham have the lead. Dominic Solanke fires home from close range after Gray's cut-back. He did well to dig that ball off the byline, just as he did against Fulham last weekend. The atmosphere inside here has switched.

Goal! Tottenham 1-0 Crystal Palace

20:36 , Oli Gent

35 mins: It’s there, and Solanke opens the scoring. Gray gets the cross in, and Solanke stabs home!

Sam Tabuteau reports

20:34 , Oli Gent

33 mins: Spurs get away with one there, that was tight and Tudor knows it. Glasner wags the finger, he does not agree with VAR. Spurs have to react, they can't say they have not been warned

No goal! Tottenham 0-0 Crystal Palace

20:33 , Oli Gent

32 mins: It’s ruled out! A huge let off for Spurs, with Sarr’s face offside, in front of the ball. Glasner is fuming.

Goal! Tottenham 0-1 Crystal Palace

20:31 , Oli Gent

30 mins: Palace think they’re ahead, as Sarr slots home! Chaos at the back for Spurs as Strand Larsen squeezes it in towards Guessand, who then sweeps it into Sarr. The forward chips it over Vicario, and the Eagles are ahead if this isn’t offside...

Tottenham 0-0 Crystal Palace

20:29 , Oli Gent

28 mins: Porro lines up this Spurs free kick, and a chance for the hosts to get one into the box. It’s deep for Danso and overhit, and the defender can’t control it. Chance missed.

Tottenham 0-0 Crystal Palace

20:26 , Oli Gent

25 mins: Another yellow card for Sarr for dissent.

Tottenham 0-0 Crystal Palace

20:22 , Oli Gent

22 mins: Strand Larsen is booked this time for a check on Van de Ven.

Tottenham 0-0 Crystal Palace

20:21 , Oli Gent

20 mins: The Spurs fans are getting frustrated at their side’s speed of play so far. It’s been a bit too slow.

Sam Tabuteau reports

20:17 , Oli Gent

16 mins: Spurs spark into life with that Tel chance. Big opportunity for him tonight after a bright cameo versus Fulham and he is leading the charge for Spurs at the moment.

Tottenham 0-0 Crystal Palace

20:16 , Oli Gent

15 mins: Close! A first sighting of goal for Spurs as Tel cuts in off the left and looks to get his shot away. Henderson spills but gathers at the second attempt.

Sam Tabuteau reports

20:14 , Oli Gent

13 mins: Munoz cannot continue and Souza will breathe a sigh of relief. Souza might have taken one for the team there as Munoz is arguably Palace's most prominent attacking outlet.

Tottenham 0-0 Crystal Palace

20:13 , Oli Gent

12 mins: Not good news for Palace as Munoz as he goes down once more, holding his shoulder. Looks like he’s dislocated it. He’ll have to come off.

Tottenham 0-0 Crystal Palace

20:11 , Oli Gent

10 mins: Another long throw opportunity for Palace as Richards launches it in, but Palhinha clears.

Tottenham 0-0 Crystal Palace

20:09 , Oli Gent

8 mins: Free kick, Palace. Souza catches Munoz, who falls heavily on the right touchline. The Spurs wing-back takes a booking and Munoz is feeling his shoulder.

Sam Tabuteau reports

20:04 , Oli Gent

6 mins: Looks to be a 3-4-3 with Gray at right wing-back and Porro as the right sided centre-back. Tudor perhaps looking to use Porro's passing ability to help in build up.

Tottenham 0-0 Crystal Palace

20:04 , Oli Gent

4 mins: A good first intervention for Souza as he wins the ball high up the field on his first start for his new side.

Sam Tabuteau reports

20:03 , Oli Gent

3 mins: One minute in and already Palace come close as Vicario saves from Wharton. Glasner stands mouth wide open on the touchline, he is not sure how Palace have not scored.

Tottenham 0-0 Crystal Palace

20:02 , Oli Gent

2 mins: Good save! Vicario immediately called into actions as Palace launch a long throw into the box through Richards. Wharton strikes it into the floor as it falls to him, but the Italian keeper is equal to it.

There are changes, but not the ones that many were expecting as Vicario and Solanke start. Xavi and Gallagher drop to the bench, while Tel comes in as it looks like Tudor has gone for a 4-3-3. That would make it three different formations in three games.

Wright does not want Spurs to get relegated

18:25 , Oli Gent

Ian Wright has insisted he does not want to see Tottenham relegated this season.

Spurs find themselves in huge trouble as they fight for their survival, with little sign that interim manager Igor Tudor is going to inspire a dramatic turnaround in form.

After West Ham beat Fulham and Nottingham Forest picked up a shock point at Manchester City on Wednesday night, Spurs are just a single point above the bottom three.

Tudor ready to make big calls as relegation nightmare becoming real

The threat of relegation has suddenly become very real for Tottenham, Sam Tabuteau writes.

After West Ham beat Fulham and Nottingham Forest earned a point at Manchester City last night, Spurs are now just one point above the bottom three and alarm bells are ringing.

Those results for their rivals have piled pressure on Spurs ahead of their home game against Crystal Palace and a huge night in their battle to stay up.

Standard Sport prediction

17:57 , Oli Gent

It may be easy to write off Crystal Palace as they come into this match with just three wins in their last 18 matches - but do so at your own peril.

At Old Trafford last time out, Glasner’s side were more than equal to Michael Carrick’s resurgent and well-rested United, and could have been confident of taking home three points had they finished the match with a full complement on the pitch.

This ailing Tottenham side should not pose such stern opposition, and their disillusioned home fans will not be doing too much to egg them on, either.

A good opportunity presents itself, then, for Glasner’s men to build some real positive momentum ahead of making their debut in the knockout rounds of a European competition.

Crystal Palace to win, 3-1.

Crystal Palace team news

17:49 , Oli Gent

Oliver Glasner is also facing a suspension to a key defender due to a red card awarded in defeat by United. His will see Maxence Lacroix sidelined for one match after he was given his marching orders for a last-man foul on Matheus Cunha.

Elsewhere, Jean-Philippe Mateta is out with the same knee injury which saw his Deadline Day transfer to AC Milan fall through at the eleventh hour.

He is expected to play for Palace again before the end of the campaign, though, as he has decided against undergoing surgery.

Jefferson Lerma is slowly closing in on a return from the thigh injury he sustained against Burnley last month, but the trip north of the river is expected to come too soon for him.

Similar is true of Eddie Nketiah and Cheick Doucoure, neither of whom are expected back until next month at the earliest.

Tottenham team news

17:43 , Oli Gent

There are injuries abound for Spurs, making Tudor’s task all the more challenging.

He was handed his latest setback ahead of kick-off at Craven Cottage, as Djed Spence was left out of the squad due to a minor calf injury. He will again miss tonight’s game. Fans are pushing for Mathys Tel to start, after an encouraging cameo against Fulham, while Guglielmo Vicario’s starting spot in goal is said to be under threat.

The remaining injuries in the squad are all long-term. Lucas Bergvall remains in recovery from a sprained ankle, expected to keep him out until next month, with Mohammed Kudus facing a similar timeline as he looks to recover from a hamstring problem.

Destiny Udogie, also sidelined with a hamstring problem, is being assessed on a week-by-week basis, according to Tudor, though he is not expected to make a comeback for at least another fortnight.

Dejan Kulusevski remains in a state of flux following last year’s knee surgery, while Wilson Odobert, Rodrigo Bentancur, Ben Davies and James Maddison are all set to be sidelined at least until the latter stages of this campaign.
