Tottenham urged to land 20-goal Premier League star as Harry Kane replacement in transfer swoop

Tottenham have been linked with a whole host of strikers as a contingency plan for life after Harry Kane at the club, with the England international team captain nearing the end of his contract. With just 12-months remaining on his deal, Kane's future remains uncertain as he has been linked with a move to Manchester United, PSG and Bayern Munich.

Chairman Daniel Levy will be hopeful that the 29-year-old could sign a new agreement with the club, also claiming in a recent interview that he should have a statue outside the stadium one day.

Interim manager Ryan Mason was asked about that possibility, telling the press: "I think that is probably a question to answer when he is not playing here because then you can recognise and appreciate the work he has done.

"Right now it is probably a bit premature because the reality is Harry is still a Tottenham player and we are still focused on him achieving more great things for this football club. Hopefully he can do that." It remains to be seen whether he will continue that journey with Spurs.

However, there will likely have to be a plan in place for after Kane leaves, just so the side aren't caught short when that time eventually comes. For former player Jermaine Pennant, he believes that Ivan Toney is the ideal candidate, having registered a 20-goal Premier League campaign.

He told TalkSPORT: "£100million is fair [for Toney]. The reason being, if you look at Jack Grealish, he cost £100 million from Aston Villa. Strikers are at a premium. You always pay more for strikers, then you get an English premium added onto that as well. With all those combined, then you are looking at £100 million.

“If you look at the best stats for an English striker, he is just shy behind Harry Kane. He is England’s number two. He’s similar to Harry Kane himself. If Kane was to leave in the summer, then I think a perfect fit would be Ivan Toney, without a shadow of a doubt.”
