Tottenham UEFA Youth League player ratings as Will Lankshear scores and Alfie Devine impresses

Aaron Maguire

Called into action early on and produced a fine save to deny Diogo Gomes Cabral. Had little to do at times despite the visitors creating some chances throughout, but there wasn't anything he could do about Marcos Sousa Cruz's two goals. Distributed the ball well. 6

George Abbot

Made a number of very good blocks and tackles in the first half, with the right-back also firing a shot over from a well-worked corner. Continued to impress after the break in what was a very good performance from the youngster. 8

Archie Chaplin

Busy at times but contributed with some good tackles in and around the box. 6

Alfie Dorrington

Caught the eye with a couple of driving runs from the back in the second half and also a brilliant block just before Cruz added his second. Came off not long after. 6

Jahziah Linton

Had a tough task on his hands against the tricky Cabral and was substituted at the break. 5

Nile John

Captained the side against their Portuguese opponents and was outnumbered in the middle at times with Spurs playing an attacking 4-1-4-1 formation. 6

Yago Santiago

Involved a few times in the final third but things didn't come off for him. Moved up front after Will Lankshear's exit before he was taken off moments later. 5

Jamie Donley

Playing as part of a four behind Lankshear, Donley looked to make things happen when he got on the ball and had an effort that trickled wide of the target. Moved to centre-back midway through the second half with Dorrington making was and was solid there. 7

Alfie Devine

Showed his class in the game when he was in possession as he drove forward and showcased his passing qualities. Some good touches throughout but couldn't quite find a way to punish Sporting CP. 7

Romaine Mundle

Impressing at home in the first game against Marseille, Mundle struggled to have an impact on proceedings against the Portuguese side. 5

Will Lankshear

Made the perfect start to the game by scoring after 46 seconds with a simple goal in the box after an error from the Sporting goalkeeper. Didn't have many opportunities on goal after that and was replaced just after the hour mark. 7

Substitutes

Max McKnight (Jahziah Linton)

On at left-back and fared well. 5

Jaden William (Will Lankshear)

Quiet up front with no chances coming his way. 5

Damola Ajayi (Alfie Dorrington)

Limited opportunities to make an impression on the game. 5

Mikey Moore (Yago Santiago)

Went on a couple of good runs after his introduction as he caused the visitors some issues. Also wasn't far away with his lofted effort in stoppage time. 6

Callum Olusesi (Romaine Mundle)

Introduced in the closing stages and had limited time to make an impact. 5
