Tottenham transfers: 9 players who could leave club on deadline day including Dele Alli

Transfer deadline day is here and it could be a busy few hours at Tottenham Hotspur.

Antonio Conte is hoping to bolster his squad before 11pm but will have to shift players out of north London in order to make room.

The Lilywhites are well within a shout of qualifying for the Champions League and streamlining the squad may well be the key to returning to Europe's premier competition.

But chairman Daniel Levy does not have long to bring in reinforcements and allay fears that Conte, only appointed in November, could sensationally quit if he is unhappy with their business.

With that in mind, here are nine players who could leave Tottenham before the January transfer window slams shut.

Join the debate! Who should leave Tottenham on deadline day? Let us know your picks below.

Dele Alli

By 2022, many would have expected Alli to be the jewel of Spurs' crown after his superb start to life as a teenager at White Hart Lane.

But now playing under his fourth permanent manager, the 25-year-old's time appears to be up, having not appeared this calendar year.

A promising performance against Liverpool in December gave fans hope but Conte seems unconvinced over the former England international, with cash-rich Newcastle United, Everton, Burnley and Brighton & Hove Albion all linked with interest.

Like Alli's career, though, time is not on his side.

Tanguy Ndombele

To a much more likely exit now and Ndombele is wanted to Mauricio Pochettino at Paris Saint-Germain, the man who brought the midfielder to Tottenham for a club-record fee in 2019.

But it appears that former club Lyon will win the race, with Ndombele set to rejoin the Ligue 1 side after Bruno Guimaraes left for Newcastle United on Sunday.

The Frenchman has struggled for game-time under Conte - also his fourth boss in north London - and when he trudged off during their too-close-for-comfort FA Cup win against Morecambe, Ndombele's Spurs career looked to go down the tunnel with him.

Giovani Lo Celso

Sticking in midfield and Lo Celso has been linked with a move to Fiorentina.

The Argentine is another who has failed to live up to his potential over two-and-a-half-years, with injuries stifling his progress.

Lo Celsco is reportedly a target for La Viola and his departure to Serie A could be part of a swap deal for Moroccan playmaker Sofyan Amrabat.

Tottenham are said to be interested in Amrabat and the switch has the capacity to please both parties.

Steven Bergwijn

A fortnight ago, it seemed nailed that on Bergwijn would be out of Tottenham by deadline day.

But after his incredible two goals in added time to turn their game against Leicester City on its head, the Dutchman may have saved his Spurs career.

The Lilywhites winger has been heavily linked with a move to Ajax just two years after leaving rivals PSV Eindhoven.

But now Bergwijn may have a six-month lifeline under Conte, who has very few forward options besides stars Harry Kane and Heung-min Son.

Still, regular minutes could persuade the 24-year-old to cut his losses and leave.

Bryan Gil

Signed from Sevilla for £21.6million with Erik Lamela going the other way in the transfer window, fans would have expected at least one Premier League start for Gil in his first half-season.

But unfortunately for supporters, they have been disappointed by the young Spaniard's impact so far and Gil has found adapting to England football to be a tough task.

It is understood that Valencia have agreed to terms on a loan deal which will see him return to La Liga for the rest of the season.

Matt Doherty

Picked up for a what was labelled a bargain price of £14.7million during Jose Mourinho 's one and only summer transfer window, few anticipated how difficult Doherty would find the move from Wolverhampton Wanderers to Tottenham.

The Republic of Ireland international is a specialist wing-back, so when ex-Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo took over from Mourinho, it was hoped Doherty could shine after a shaky first term at Spurs.

But the 30-year-old has continued to struggle and looks a shadow of his former self, providing just one assist in six Premier League appearances this campaign.

Wolves have reportedly made an offer to bring Doherty back and a return could be on the cards.

Japhet Tanganga

In what is becoming a common theme among English players who find themselves out of favour at their native clubs, Tanganga is the latest to be linked with a move to Serie A.

In fact, the young defender could follow Chelsea academy graduate Fikayo Tomori to Italian giants AC Milan.

The Rossoneri are said to be eying Tanganga, who has made just eight league starts this season, and want to bring the 22-year-old to the San Siro on loan.

But the Lilywhites would only be looking to sell him on a permanent basis.

Will Milan be forced to stump up the cash? Deadline day will tell.

Joe Rodon

Another centre-back who has found game-time hard to come by, Rodon's last appearance came on November 25 in the Europa Conference League - a competition Tottenham are now out of.

At 24, the ex- Swansea City starlet will be displeased by the fact he has more minutes for Wales than his club since the beginning of the campaign, a sign that a change of employer could be for the best.

Several sides are believed to be interested in the undoubtedly talented Rodon's signature, including Newcastle and Brighton.

Maybe a joint move with Alli can be arranged.

Harvey White

While many of Spurs' youngsters are out on loan, White remained in north London last summer after a strong spell with League One 's Portsmouth in the second half of last term.

And yet, the 20-year-old has failed to see a single minute of first-team football under both Nuno and Conte, instead impressing with the club's under-23 side.

White has made 16 appearances in Premier League 2, scoring five goals and registering six assists.

A gifted creative midfielder, the Lilywhites can surely find one team wanting to make use of his talents.
