Tottenham transfer news: Spurs chasing Porto striker with £67m buy-out clause

Tottenham are chasing Porto’s highly-rated forward Luis Diaz.

Spurs boss Antonio Conte is desperate to bolster his squad in January and they are keen on the in-form Colombia international.

It has been reported in Portugal that 25-year-old Diaz has a £67m buy-out clause in his contract but Tottenham would be certain to try and negotiate a lower figure.

They have yet to make an official bid but are trying to begin negotiations with Porto and the player’s representatives for the versatile forward who has hit 14 goals in 18 appearances this season.

Conte wants to sign another forward and Diaz fits the bill as he can play wide, as a main striker or just behind and his versatility would boost their options.

However, Tottenham could face competition as Manchester United have looked at him in the past as well as clubs from Italy and Spain.

That will also be one of several deals that Spurs are pursuing as they are keen to strike a deal for Wolves ’ Spain international Adama Traore.

Despite talks and confidence that a deal could get done, nothing has been agreed with Wolves certain to demand well in excess of £20m.

Tottenham are also in the market for a defender and a midfielder with Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat a possible loan target. They have been heavily linked with AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie.

But Tottenham are also looking at outgoings with chairman Daniel Levy insistent that they must balance the books.

Tanguy Ndombele is a target for Paris Saint Germain and they could ship out the £200,000-a-week midfielder to the French giants.

Giovani Lo Celso does not fit into Conte’s plans and he could join Dele Alli on the way out as the England midfielder is available on a loan deal.
